Devi Maa killed the demon Mahishasura. This demon had the boon of Lord Brahma, due to which he had created a ruckus. Mahishasura had a boon that no one could kill him. People were troubled by his atrocities, then Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva created Goddess Durga by combining their power. Goddess Durga fought this demon for nine days and finally killed him on the tenth day.
