Sydney Sixers' Josh Phillip out of Adelaide match due to corona infection

The Sydney Sixers take on the Adelaide Strikers on January 26, with the winning team going straight to the final.In the current season of Big Bash League (BBL), the shadow of corona infection has been seen continuously. Due to which the schedule of the tournament had to be changed in the middle. Now Sydney Sixers have suffered a major setback before the crucial match against Adelaide Strikers. In which the team's wicket-keeper batsman Joshua Philip has been ruled out of this match after being found corona infected.


24-year-old Joshua will no longer be seen playing in the playoff match to be held on January 26, while his teammates Jack Edwards and Mickey Edwards have also been sent into isolation. After which all of them will remain in isolation for the next 7 days and this simply means that if Sydney Sixers reach the final, then both these players will not be able to play in that match either.


At the same time, due to lack of wicketkeeper in the replacement pool, former Sydney Thunder wicketkeeper Jay Lenton has been included in the team from the draft. Layton was till now in the coaching staff of the Sydney Sixers team but now he has suddenly been included as a replacement player. Considering the situation behind which the decision has been taken.

This is considered a big setback for Sydney Sixers before this important match, as the team has lost 3 of its important players in the last one week due to corona infection. In which Joshua Philippe scored 429 runs at an average of 33 in 15 matches played this season, due to which his departure is being considered a big setback for the team.


In its official statement, the team of Sydney Sixers said that its star opening batsman and wicketkeeper Joshua Phillip has been out due to corona infection before this important match. In which 2 other players who came in close contact with him have also been sent to isolation.
